I Heart Annie

Music 2004 albums - summary so far.

(As posted on a music message board i frequent)

I gotta be honest, The Streets album hasn't aged well for me at all...the first 5-10 listens I absolutely LOVED it, but once its worn its way through your system all you're left with is a collection of awful to good songs, with nothing to really push it over the top. That said...the initial impact was strong enough for me to still want to list it.

Wiley, Devin the Dude, Kanye, Madvillain, Scrappy/Trillville, Banner, Luomo, Superpitcher, Junior Boys (overrated but still decent) Lucien N Luciano, Dizzee, Ghostface, DJ Kicks, Scissor Sisters, Brandy, RJD2, Diplo, Kiley Dean (if it counts), Ragga Ragga Ragga 2004, Theodore Unit, Felix Da Housecat, Streets, !!!, 3-6 S&C, Jada's "Champ is Here" mixtape, Soca Gold 2k4 is fun, Bhangra Masti 2, Big and Rich (I know I'm shocked too), and I really like Reggaeton Desafino comp.

Lets not forget reissues/repackagings/comps etc like Arthur Russell, Trax reissues, The Fall best of, Crunk Classics, etc.

Haven't heard Talib, Annie (aside from random singles), Brian Wilson, 8ball and mjg, Jim Jones, Fabric 17, and that Favela Booty Bass comp is on its way to me.

Still waiting on a BUNCH of stuff: Mos Def, Slim Thug, Mike Jones, M Mayer, Lil Boosie, Mannie Fresh, TOK, Nas, Cam'ron, Jacki-O, Shawnna, Tom Waits, Lil Jon.

(surprise surprise) my singles/songs list will be a lot more interesting because I find it a lot easier to LOVE a song than to LOVE an album. So stuff like "Float On" and "I'd Rather Dance With You" and a bunch of Ragga and stuff like Young Gunz and Ciara and Nina Sky and "Timecode" and "Soul of Heart" and ... well, pretty much EVERYthing. The only artists on my albums list who REALLY suffer in the singles list is Madvillain. Where as almost ALL my singles generally suffer when it comes to albums.
